Week 29: NYFW Recap. Fohr Event and My Looks

Have you seen my first two NYFW looks here? Today I continue sharing my looks of the day. For the Hakan Akkaya show, I was so privileged to attend, and showroom meetings I rocked this pyjama/lingerie trend. The whole look is by Walter Baker, who is one of the NYC designers I absolutely love working with.

MY LOOK 1:

Black Silk Top - Walter Baker (similar here) | Embroidered Pants - Walter Baker | Shoes - Christian Louboutin | Bag - Saint Laurent ( I also love this YSL red clutch on SALE) |
Sunnies - Ray Ban | Gold Hoops - cheap option here

FOHR EVENT:

I will tell you a secret: I sometimes prefer events and parties to runway shows! Often they are more intimate and exclusive, and you get more chances to meet and talk to some truly inspiring and beautiful women. I was lucky to have a blogger friend Sarah Jessica from FASHinNY to introduce me to some wonderful people and brands. She was the one who told me about FOHR. BeFOHR event was actually the party that launched my NYFW adventures.

I ran to Billie Carroll, who is a blogger at 25 North, and former cast member of Made in Chelsea that I actually love (guilty pleasures!). Billie is very pretty and sweet!

With another beautiful fashion blogger Kyleigh, who lives in Palm Beach, Florida. Her blog is C'est le Style.

MY LOOK 2:

Black Jumpsuit - Walter Baker (I have linked similar for you down below) | Coat - Land's End

Week 27: The Start of 2017. Oculus

Oculus, designed by the celebrated Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, is one of my favourite buildings in New York. The gigantic Transportation Hub, officially called the World Trade Center, evokes a big white bird, spreading its massive steel wings preparing for a flight.

Despite the heavy criticism of Calatrava's over-budget and seven years behind the schedule, project, I trust that Oculus represents the new-age grandiosity of New York, like the good old Grand Central embodied New York's pompous ascent at the beginning of the 20th century.

To me this $4 billion station is not just “the world’s most expensive train station”, but a new symbol of New York, a reminder that everything is possible in this big beautiful city I am so privileged to call home.

MY LOOK:

Black Turtleneck Dress - SammyDress | Stockings - Oroblu | Heels - Christian Louboutin

Photographs were taken in Oculus, by Dennis Christians.

Week 22: Witches of Manhattan. Bells, the Blog & the Brooklyn Bridge.

What the Blog is About?

**

While I often want to share my views on current events happening in the world, I try to stick to writing about culture, fashion and books. I don't like offending people and hurting their feelings, and I also don't think certain views on politics, finances, educational system etc. should be shared publicly if they are not researched properly. Nowadays we are all content creators, and I refuse to add to this maddening storm of misleading information as you never know who is reading it and who it is going to affect.

I believe in a proverb "Let the cobbler stick to his last". It comes from an ancient story about a shoemaker who criticizes a work by a Greek painter named Apelles, saying that the shoe in the picture wasn't portrayed correctly. The next day, the shoemaker, quite proud at seeing the former error corrected, thanks to his advice, begins to criticize the leg; upon which Apelles, full of indignation, pops his head out, and reminds him that a shoemaker should give no opinion beyond the shoes.

Therefore, I promise that on Pastiche.today you will only see properly researched information about historical persons and cultural events, fashion styles I really wear and like, recommendations on books I actually read and films I have watched. I promise not to feed you any information to sell you something or write reviews on places I have never been at for the sake of having it on my blog.

My goal is to create this wonderful online place for you where every Theme Week you can immerse yourself into a new fantasy and get interested and excited about a new subject. I want people to come back here and to my social media to find inspiration not only for their wardrobes and reading lists, but for their everyday lives!

As you have noticed, sometimes I do not upload all the content for one Theme within 7 days, and I often update the lists, links and themed shops many days after they are published. The reason for that is that I don't want to create quick content; that is why you won't see me praising that ugly Kenzo H&M collection or wearing other fast fashion trends. I want people to come back to different posts and Themed Weeks when they feel they are interested in the topic and find all the necessary information even months after it was created!

Am I talking off-topic too much today? :) Let me return to our Witches of Manhattan Week. For my last witchy look I decided to wear this extremely sexy, black romper with bell sleeves. Bell sleeves are such a classic attribute of any "witch outfit," that I feel that you don't even have to add anything else to make your dress or romper look more magic-infused. However, the revealing lace-up front of my romper from NastyGal (similar here) is an additional dramatic detail.

At the end of this post I linked to a few of my favourite bell sleeve dresses, rompers and tops for you to shop. Go for black or deep red for the ultimate evil sorceress look, or play with the lighter colours and floral prints to feel like a Medieval princess who appeared in the 21st century!

Week 17: Rita Hayworth is a Babe. My Femme Fatale Look.

Inspired by Rita Hayworth's style (see here) and bold 40s makeup, I have created this modern look with a very glamorous Old Hollywood feel. I am wearing a Walter Baker beaded dress with an extremely sexy open back, and put on my ALL TIME FAVOURITE Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid matte lipstick in Sad Girl. This lipstick stays on the whole day and the colour is just pure burgundy perfection.

P.S. If you don't own a pair of Slithur heels by Steve Madden, get it now! It is the most comfortable pair of heels I ever had. I walked 6(!) hours on them that day. I give up on my Pigalles after just 30 minutes :)

Week 17: Rita Hayworth Is a Babe. 40s Style Goddess.

When I received this polka dot top from Shein I tried it on with jeans and denim shorts first, and it looked really fun and cute. But I just knew I had to create a vintage inspired look when I saw how beautiful the top looked paired with my favourite ball gown skirt (similar here).

This outfit combo reminds me of Christian Dior's New Look from the 1940s and of stunning Old Hollywood actresses, especially Rita Hayworth who, in my opinion, deserves more recognition. Therefore, I am dedicating this Theme Week to 40s babe, Rita Hayworth

I first saw Rita in Gilda and she stole my heart. I will talk more about her and her style in one of my posts later this week, but today I am sharing my “40s Style Goddess” outfit inspired by a few of Rita's signature looks. Today’s look was shot in Soho by the amazing photographer DCP New York.

Top - Shein, Skirt - old, but found similar on Shein, shoes - Christian Louboutin, Bag - Kenzo (similar).
